The Chalos Adoption Journey: Photo dump - week one with the kiddos

Our Journey so far...

April 7,2011- Made the decision to stop pursuing infertility treatment and start the adoption process

May 2011 - During this month, we spent countless hours researching agencies and types of adoption. We interviewed multiple agencies. Made a tentative decision to go with a Nashville agency (even though our hearts were already in Africa). The next welcome class for the agency was not until the late summer/early fall, so we decided to kick off our fundraising with a Mother's Day flower/Chocolate sale.

August 12th-13th - Yard Sale. Met several people who will forever have an impact on our life. Learned about Love Beyond Borders and their DRC Program.

September 28 - First Homestudy Visit. Spent every available moment completing paperwork.

October 19th - Last Homestudy Visit! Hooray!!!

November 5th- Adoption Craft Fair

November - December -Immediately begin any paperwork for LBB. Get everything imaginable notarized by local, county, and state notaries. Make millions (okay not millions, but LOTS) of copies. Submit all paperwork.

December 1st - Get potential referral for Claira and Kab.

December 12th - Get official referral for Claira. (At this point, lets just say that lots of tears were shed and sadness felt as we realized that Kab wouldn't be coming home with us.)

December 22nd - Claira went home to be in the arms of our sweet Jesus.

January 9th - Get official referral for Kab (as he had not yet been referred to a family).

January 12th - We looked into the eyes of sweet Odette. THE CHALOS MIRACLE MONEY - Over 7500.00 raised in 6 hours. The craziest night of our life. We still don't know how to say thank you.

January 23rd - Mailed official acceptance of our TWO BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN.

February 4th - Our dossier was sent to DRC to be filed in court.

March 14- Congolese Court Date

April 13- Passed Court!!!!!!!! The kiddos are officially Chalos'!!!!

August 27 - Embassy Date

October 13- Arrived in US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The kiddos are home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
